Essay type questions demand essay type answers. Essay type answers are usually written in paragraphs. These paragraphs, two or three or depending on the question all aim at answering the same question
An essay is a group of well connected and meaningful dots. These dots if disconnected renders the essay meaningless. Examiners are only interested in how these dots are connected.
Candidates have these dots. They know most a time which dots are appropriate. The Problem is how to connect these dots.
Most candidates in examination lack the skills needed to connect these dots.
There are words which can be used to connects these dots. Some of these words are Firstly, Secondly, Thirdly, Furthermore, in addition, Besides, But, However, Moreover, etc.
Another point to consider when connecting these dots is that these dots should be connected both Internally and Externally. This is what is called Inter and Intra Paragraphs Relationships. A paragraph should connected both Internally and Externally. This makes the essay meaningful. On the the hand, disconnected paragraphs will make the essay meaningless.
Remember this "a paragraph is not a group of meaningless words, arranged in a meaningless manner". That is not a paragraph.
Examiners would always give marks to scripts with good and well connected Dots. Remember, that essays are just Dots joined by connectors.
